We are Tommy and Mattia, the faces and minds behind the Italian Way project. We both come from northern Italy, from the region around Lake Garda and Lake Como, so settling in the Queenstown Lakes district was just natural for us!
Queenstown is where we met back in 2017, after we had both travelled briefly around New Zealand. Our friendship grew very quickly and so did our love for this amazing country and the desire to stay longer.
That’s when the idea of Italian Way popped up. Our passion for Italian food, our expertise in baking and cooking, and our love for travelling was the perfect cocktail for a food truck!!!
After over a year of planning, thinking, working and arguing (a lot! ), and with the extraordinary help and support of our girlfriends, Veronica and Esther, in October 2019 the food truck was ready to go!
Since then we have been busy serving our pizza and Italian delicacies all around the South Island!
